"Observe" O'Brien stated, ignoring Dr. Tall's annoyance as if it had never manifested.
The footage presented in holographic form was jittery and of a grainy resolution. It at first showed only darkness which progressed to dim lighting inside what appeared to be the containment cell. Sticky strands of a greenish material covered almost every surface of the interior. They were wet, gooey. The camera shifts to the originating point of these mucus-like strands. Only by peering closely could the outline of the chrysalis pockmarked by olive green pustules which moved as if the entire object was breathing. The surveillance camera zoomed in on the chrysalis in greater magnification. The chrysalis thrashed in a ever increasing manner getting more erratic and violent by each passing second.
The footage than cut to outside the sub-level complex where several dark-green Bio-Ops weapons at the ready. the commanding officer motioned for the others to back him up.
The footage suddenly shook and suffered moments of bad reception flickering. The bright lights of the hallway there flickered. The Bio-Ops briefly stumbled caught off-guard by the tremor. They quickly recovered. Finally, the commanding officer swiped a key-card at the security console which blinked open and the doors hissed open. The Bio-Ops briskly entered inside sealing the doors behind them.
The footage went back to the interior of the containment chamber. The chrysalis was breaking open tearing at the seams releasing wisps of steam and a viscous orange liquid as the Bio-Op team fanned out surrounding it, weapons poised. Suddenly, the chrysalis ruptured brutally splattering the area and the camera lens with the liquid contents it held. A needle-like screech emanated and other grotesque sounds mingled with shouts of shock from the Bio-Ops.
The footage from this point on was obscured by the orange liquid with only a few glimpses on the events unfolding. Sounds of gunfire and shouted orders filled the air in conjunction with the horrid brain-gnawing noise. Hysterical screaming was heard and a sharp crack of bone. Cries for help and exclamations increased as the situation rapidly deteriorated. Several hours of the horrid cacophony progressed until at last silence. Than the camera went off air.
The footage once again returned to outside the containment complex where additional reinforcements were waiting. The door hissed open revealing a bloody and mutilated Bio-Op gesturing for help as he attempted to crawl out. Something inside dragged him back inside where a final whimper was heard. Than the Bio-Ops opened fire on what burst out massacring the personnel and splattering the hallways with blood and organs. The footage than degenerated to static.
O'Brien looked on at the endless display of white snow on the screen before turning towards Dr. Tall with a grave look on his face.
"34 Casualties occurred that day. The sub-complex was beyond recovery. Automated safeguards detecting the high level of contamination, ejected the sub-complex to free-fall and be incinerated. We covered the incident up. Jonathan Marks was told his father died in the line of duty and nothing else."
